Hedegaard,Johannes  Johannes Hedegaard 1915-  . A Danish ceramist and sculptor. Trained as sculptorr at the Royal Copenhagen Factory 1930-1935 and at the same time educated at the Academy of fine art in Copenhagen. Worked for Royal Copenhagen from 1948-1966 and became known for his ceramic works and relief works for both Royal Copenhagen and from his own studio. His work is exhibited at the Lunds Museum, Sweden; Chicago, USA and several Danish Museums. x

Bøgelund, Gerd Gerd Bøgelund (b. 1923) Bogelund first joined Royal Copenhagen during her training at the Copenhagen Craftsman School. In 1943 she joined Saxbo for a few years working together with Nathalie Krebs and was influenced by her style and techniques. In 1946 she came back to Royal Copenhagen as a signing artist doing mainly stoneware but also porcelain pieces. Her work is included in permanent collections in Denmark, Italy and Germany.

Overglaze Overglaze figurines are decorated after the figurines has been glazed and fired. Since the pigments do not have to withstand the intense heat used to fire the glass-like glaze, much brighter colors can be used, much finer detail can be achieved, and many figurines are then highlighted with gold. This process is usually associated with Meissen figurines, and it is essentially the same process used in making Royal Copenhagen's famous Flora Danica dinnerware. Royal Copenhagen and B&G are rightly famous for their underglaze decorated figurines, which represent a major technical achievement and contribution to the potter's art, but it is with their overglaze techniques that they were able to create many of their most spectacular and beautiful figurines.
